When the person you love isn’t you.

Back to Under Pressure Series
Marriage asks two different people to build one life.
And sometimes we forget the different part.
A forgotten promise becomes I don’t matter to you.
Silence becomes You don’t want me.
A need for time becomes You aren’t willing to change.
One more question becomes You don’t trust me.
The meaning arrives so quickly that we may not recognize it as meaning. It simply feels true. And once it feels true, we begin responding to each other as though it is true.
Love Under Pressure explores what happens within us—and between us—when difference, disappointment, fear, and exhaustion begin shaping the way we experience the person we love.
This book is not written to decide who is right, diagnose who is “the problem,” or give either spouse better language for winning an argument. It begins with a quieter possibility:
Maybe there is more happening here than I have been able to see.
Through honest reflection, relational stories, and the SEED practice, you will explore:
- Why your spouse’s differences can begin to feel like pressure
- How old meanings and protective reactions enter present relationships
- What anger, control, withdrawal, and urgency may be protecting
- How to make room for two realities without denying either person’s experience
- How to slow conflict, protect dignity, and return after you miss each other
- What it means to remain present without tolerating harm or losing yourself
Because love under pressure does not always look warm or steady. Sometimes it braces, tightens, reaches urgently, or pulls away. Love has not necessarily disappeared. It may be showing up disguised as protection.
Love makes room for both realities.
Your pain does not automatically prove your spouse’s intention. Their good intention does not erase your pain. Understanding does not make harmful behavior acceptable—and remaining present never requires self
